Ryan Dougay

Background and Experience

Ryan is a native Texan who was born and raised in Beaumont. In 1995, he moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. While attending college, he started a food distribution company called D&S Distributing. At some point, juggling a business and attending school became too much, and Ryan decided to focus on his business. When the dot-com crash hit in 1999, Ryan decided to go back to college.

Ryan worked for two prominent family law attorneys while going to school. He also obtained his real estate license and worked for Ely Properties, leasing and selling residential properties on campus. Ryan decided to take some time off after graduation and spent a summer in Costa Rica before moving to Boulder, where he spent his free time cycling, mountain biking, and snowboarding.

In 2004, Ryan began law school in Virginia. It was there that Ryan obtained his third-year bar card, which allowed him to work under the guidance of a family law attorney and try multiple contested family law cases prior to taking the bar exam. After passing the bar exam, Ryan moved back to Austin and opened his practice, which he successfully ran before joining the team as a partner at Gray Becker, P.C.

Ryan is a trial lawyer who is very comfortable in the courtroom and is passionate about the practice of law. Ryan strives to resolve cases with as little conflict as possible, but knows when to be assertive. Ryan is skilled at assessing whether a case needs to be tried in court or should be settled. Ryan has extensive experience in family law, civil, criminal family violence, and stalking cases. Ryan’s practice focuses primarily on high conflict child custody, high asset marital estates, complex property division, and family violence cases.
