Mr. Jacks’s practice focuses on seeking solutions for complex business problems facing emerging and established businesses, including partnership and shareholder disputes, protection of trade secrets, unfair competition, landlord-tenant issues, fiduciary duties, and contractual obligations.

Mr. Jacks also represents individuals and businesses in disputes arising under the Deceptive Trade Practices.

Notables:

  • Represented seller of component parts of computers on covenant-not-to-compete and protection of trade-secrets claims in arbitration resulting in a permanent injunction in favor of company.
  • Represented landlord in landlord-tenant dispute in jury trial resulting in verdict and judgment in favor of landlord and award of all attorney fees for prosecution of suit.
  • Represented individuals against a national seller of credit card and check collection services on fraud and Deceptive Trade Practices Act claims resulting in favorable settlement on behalf of clients.
  • Represented individual against local business on nuisance claim resulting in jury verdict in favor of client awarding damages and a permanent injunction issued by the Court.
  • Represented ophthalmologist before the Texas State Medical Board on claims of improper delegation of duties and related claims. After State filed claims before the State Office of Administrative Hearings, all charges were dismissed.
  • Represented Fortune 500 company on breach-of-contract suit; after trial to the court, judgment rendered in favor of my client on counterclaim and denial of all of the plaintiff's claims.
  • Represented technology support company on computer hacking claim by former employee. After initial denials of involvement by former employee, proved through discovery, former employee's involvement resulting in a judgment imposing a permanent injunction and damages.
