Practice Areas:

Background:

Mr. Becker represents individuals and businesses in a wide variety of legal disputes and practice areas.  Named a Texas Super Lawyer in the area of General Litigation, Mr. Becker loves practicing law in general and litigation in particular because of the constant exposure to new people, new ideas and new technology.  “My diverse cases have forced me at times to become an expert on building construction, computer software, nursing homes, mortgage brokering, prison medical care, and an endless list of other activities.”  Mr. Becker has been in charge of hundreds of multimillion dollar cases.  His practice has a heavy emphasis on business litigation, employment law, governmental litigation and consequently, constitutional law.  He is equally comfortable in state and federal court.  He has handled numerous complex, high stakes lawsuits involving not only money, but important issues of public policy.

Notables:

Briefed and argued four cases in the United States Supreme Court, winning three of them.  He has argued well over a hundred cases in the Texas Supreme Court and the State and federal courts of appeals.  He has tried, both to the courts and to juries, hundreds of cases, generally against many of the best lawyers in the State.  Many of his cases have determined the validity of a wide range of governmental practices and the parameters of the United States and Texas Constitutions.  Mr. Becker loves to win and hates to lose, characteristics that are reflected in his thorough preparation for every hearing and trial and tendency to learn new substantive areas by immersing himself in his clients’ businesses.  He is keenly aware of the subtle interplay between sound legal decisions and good business practices.
